Mr Secretary Sez ...

Mr Philip Clark, Company Secretary

Greetings, all you ACWS Members. Well, what a brilliant season we've had this year, with the prospects of another good one in 09. Auntie Viv and Hoppy have been working tirelessly on your behalf to get as good a season and events as possible, given the current economic climate.

Please make sure you re-join-ACWS for 2009, and encourage as many old members and friends to do so as well. Times are hard, economically, and there is not a lot of spare money about, both for events and in your pockets, to afford to get away to events. This is understood, but please do your best and come to as many events as you can next year.

Also, never give up on recruiting. The unit that stops recruiting will die on its feet through natural wastage, in a surprisingly short time, So GO FOR IT, and get as many-new members in as you can, or get old ex-members to re-join again. Now I know I re-enact the Dark Side, but it is worrying to see relatively fewer of you chaps in grey and butternut as has been the case in the past. The Union side does need somebody to shoot at, after all, so could you do something about improving your numbers at events, please?!

There will be exciting things to vote on at the AGM. We live in interesting times, and we can never stand still, but always must move forward. Also there will be another contest for the Confederate Army Commander position. Therefore YOUR VOTE counts. Please make sure you exercise your democratic rights and VOTE, either by using your Proxy Vote form and posting it in, by the due date stated on the AGM papers, which are posted to you- separately, OR by turning up at Alsager Civic Centre in person on Saturday 6th December 08, ready for a prompt start at 1 PM. It is especially important that as many Confederate Army Members vote as possible, so that there is a clear outcome to this AGM's vote on who is to be your Army Commander. It's important. Use your vote.

Also, that evening, there is our Annual Costume Dance at the same location. It's very reasonably priced and tickets (and food vouchers, if wanted) can be obtained from Debbie and Howard Davies of the 69th or from Phil and Jayne Olden at West Point Sutlers. So please do come along and enjoy.

Cheers from your Company Secretary
Philip Clark
