Hi, it's me again, The season is well under way now and we have had some cracking events. Don't forget that all ACWS Events, big or small are open to any and all ACWS Members I have hear from several sources that some of you think the event at Gunpowder Mills is a SoSkAn event. IT IS NOT. This is our event. Sewerby was once again a great success, and as you will see we have had some wonderful pictures sent in by Hilary Bannister. [Paper copy only.] For those who attended Hornby Castle in June had a great time. We were only a very small group, by we made a lot of noise and the public and organisers thought we were great. It was worth going just for Glenn Gibson's spectacular death on Sunday afternoon. Not wet enough from the rain, Glenn 'died' over a hay bale and did not see the fire bucket, which proceeded to pour over him. Glenn, true to his hobby did not flinch, he lay there and let it happen. Well done Glenn. Being such a small group attending Hornby Castle the two sides shared a fire and Saturday night was spent in good companionship, swapping stories and memories of times past. I think Jock summed it up nicely when he said he had enjoyed the weekend and the friendliness of us all being together as re enacting brothers. That's what it is all about. Making friends and having fun. Now for the HARD SELL bit. Tickets for the Annual Dance are now on sale Prices are £14 with food and £8 without food. The band is Moody Food. Do not miss out on a chance to win the STAR prize. Raffle tickets will be available at signing in sessions at all events. In these hard times this prize would go a long way to help you with your hobby. Thanks go to those who have sent me articles for inclusion in the newsletter, but I still need more and I have noticed most articles are submitted by the Confederates, so come on Federal Brigade let's have some from you too. Don't forget ladies this is your newsletter too and I would be happy to include something from you too. If anyone has an announcement to be made, birth of a 'new recruit' or an engagement or wedding or what about that special birthday or wedding anniversary, along with a picture send it in. OK friends, that's all I have to say this time. See you all next event for more re enacting and fun. Val Holt |
