EDITOR'S BITThis is a slightly different Newsletter to the usual one you receive, as in this all my own work, from start to finish. Editing printing the lot, so there is, only me to blame. Well, I can blame the computer everyone else does. Weston Park was a brilliant weekend, I think everyone had a great time, but as we all now know it didn't work out as we had hoped. Now we must all work for the future. I would like to thank all the people who turned up early at Weston Park to prepare the site for the event. Griff, Bill, Stuart, Jock , Sticks & son, Steve, Spencer, Longstreet, Alan and others who's names I don't know. Thank you! For those that went to Lichfield it was another great weekend. The campsite was a bit tight but if you had arrived earlier it was even smaller still, thanks to Colin Peters for his help in sorting things out with Gary Howard. I think the night time more than made up for anything else that happened that weekend. The American party that came all seemed to have a good time to. Although it wasn't as big as the Kirby Hall event it was still good to see other re-enactors doing their thing. We had a good time heckling the Shakespearean actors (well I think that's what they were). Some of those World War Two guys looked familiar to me, maybe they were ancestors of Civil War soldiers? For those who didn't attend because it was an arena event, this is the type of event we have to do to survive as a Society, they may not be up to your high standards but without doing this type of event you can kiss goodbye to the larger events because these small events help to pay for the Stanford Hall, Weston Park etc. events. Battle re-enactments cost money to stage, not like living history events where getting there can be the biggest expense. Et Tu Brute Kevin Holden, Communications Director |
