PROJECT DIRECTOR'S REPORT

Viv Corbishley, Projects Director

As you can see from the Events Diary, we are going to be rather busy next year with seven events already confirmed and some more in the pipeline. At last, we are starting early and hopefully going right through until September. That's if the other events come to fruition. I know we have three events one after the other, but as I said at the AGM, if I had turned down a multi-period in the middle of the Midlands, I would have been lynched! I do hope that you will support these events. We have some nice new venues now, the first being Fort Paull, which many of you already know through going to training weekends there.

Kiplin Hall is the ancestral home of George Calvert the first Lord Baltimore who was first secretary to King James I, and founded the State of Maryland in 1624.

Later on in the season we will be taking part in the first Multi-Period to be staged in Lichfield.

As I suspected, Kirby Hall will not happen again. English Heritage have decided that they will not be booking us in the foreseeable future because we do not represent English history!! They are only going to use site related re-enactment societies in the future. They are going to replace History in Action with a somewhat scaled down event at Stoneleigh Showground in Warwickshire. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I wish them well.

We have several changes on the Board now, and I would like to welcome our new Directors Alan Colquitt, who was co-opted at the beginning of the season, Kevin Holden, Roger Willison-Gray, Claire Morris and recently co-opted Ian Morris as our new Treasurer. I look forward to working with them. I would like to say a big thank you to Geraldine Patrickson, who has done a brilliant job with our accounts for the past 8 years, and has decided to hand the job over. I wish her well and look forward to seeing her enjoying her re-enacting again. Although Kevin is a Director in his own right now and has his job as Editor to do, I am pleased that he will still be assisting with Projects alongside Tom Reed.

I am also working closely with Roger now, as our jobs run side by side. Roger will be dealing with the more specialised events with me.

As soon as we have news of any other events we will post the details on the Website. If you know anyone who has not got Internet access, please would you pass on the information.

For a change, I am going to make my report very short this time (do I hear cheers of Hurrah in the background?)

I wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

My very best wishes to you all.

Viv Corbishley, Projects Director
